Computer science has arrived all sections of daily live in form of complex software systems. Software engineering deals with the methods and tools within computer science by which such complex software solutions can be developed. With the growing importance of software, also the importance of optimal training in the field of software engineering is growing. Software engineering is more than just a main area within computer science courses. It also plays a role in courses without a primary relation to computer science like technical physics, electrical engineering, business informatics, embedded systems, mechanical engineering and automotive technology.
Sustainable and effective learning of such a complex, abstract and sophisticated discipline like software engineering is a big challenge – for students and lecturers. The EVELIN project faces up this challenge.
EVELIN works on answers to the central question “What is the best way to teach and learn software engineering” and thus makes an important contribution to the further improvement of the higher education in software engineering.
